Not only do I have a MMGM for you today, I also have a GIVEAWAY!!

I had this on my TBR list. I finally broke down and got it. And it was a bit of a mistake. Now I'm addicted and will end up spending WAY to much on these things it only takes me forty-five minutes to read.

The cover:

Goodreads states:
A fresh, modern spin on a classic fairy tale--from bestselling author Sarah Mlynowski!
Mirror, mirror, on the basement wall . . .
Once upon a time my brother and I were normal kids. The next minute? The mirror in our basement slurped us up and magically transported us inside Snow White's fairy tale.
I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.
But hey -- we're heroes! We stopped Snow White from eating the poisoned apple. Hooray! Or not. If Snow White doesn't die, she won't get to meet her prince. And then she won't get her happy ending. Oops.
Now it's up to us to:
- Avoid getting poisoned
- Sneak into a castle
- Fix Snow White's story
And then, fingers crossed, find our way home.

My review:
Fairy-tale spin offs are one of the most popular things right now. They are almost everywhere! This book does a great job introducing girls ages six to nine to this genre. Like most of the spin-offs, Ms. Mlynowski uses the real version of the Snow White tale.

What was special about this book was the fact that it strayed heavily from the original. Usually I would be very upset about this, but Ms. Mlynowski does it so well that I hope to see it done in other books. I loved Abby's voice. It reminded me of the writing style of THE WITCHY WORRIES OF ABBIE ADAM.

Lots of mystery and foreshadowing that I'm sure will come up in the next books.

I wish that Snow was a little more developed, but other than that, great read!

4 stars out of 5!

  1. This has been on my To Buy and Read Pile for quite some time. Everything I've heard (including your review) makes it sound great. I'd love to win a copy.

And I'm addicted to the revisionist fairytales that are everywhere these days myself.

    1. Join the club of fairy tale spin-off lovers! :)

  2. This sounds like a really fun book. My granddaughter would love it, and I think I would as well. Thanks for a chance to win.

  3. I really enjoyed this one, too, so I'll have to check out that Witchy Worries book you mentioned. Thanks for the recommend, and happy MMGM!

    1. Witchy Worries is an amazing book! I'd say it's even better than WHATEVER AFTER.

Thanks! I love comments.
